Come visit the Barony of Starkhafn as we gather in the “slightly” cooler mountains surrounding our fair city for an indoor/outdoor social event: The Cèilidh.

SCHEDULE:
(Subject to change to meet the needs of the day)
9am – event set up
10am – Site officially opens. Lists/Sign-up begin.
10:30 – Thrown Weapons Championship
11:30 – Archery Competition
Games, Arts activities, and Knot Tying Clinic throughout the day in the clubhouse and shaded outside areas.
12:30pm – Lunch (please bring your own feast gear and drinking vessel)
1pm – Chess Championship/ Limerick Competition
2pm – Court (Championship and Competition prizes will be awarded)
3:30pm – Site closes/ clean up/ pack up

Temperatures at the Cèilidh site are predicted to reach a high of 81 degrees next weekend! Come have a “cool” time. There will be misting fans and an EZ Up at the archery and thrown weapons area to keep everyone safe and cool while outside.

The clubhouse has a kitchen and seating areas inside and outside for games, the Chess Championship, Limerick contest, knot tying, crafts, and silent auction. The porch seats 36 people and is already shaded by 9:00 AM! Lots of space inside, too!

Lunch is provided but bring your feast gear, please! There is bottled water and lemonade to drink. Lunch is gf (gluten free) beef chili and vegan chili, gf (gluten free) and standard corn breads, watermelon, and Bundt cake. Please consider bringing a dessert or side dish to feed 6 people if you have special dietary needs or a favorite side dish you’d like to share.

We have some donated items for a modest silent auction, so bring a few shekels to supporting the barony and buy some cool stuff!

REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Adult Event Registration: $25. Adult Member Discount Event Registration: $15. Children under 14 are $5; Children 14-17 are $10. $30 maximum for multiple-children from a single family. Pay at the gate. Cash or check only. Please make your check payable to: SCA Inc./ Barony of Starkhafn.

ACTIVITIES: Outdoor activities held early in the event day are the Baronial Thrown Weapons Championship and an Archery Tournament. There will be a shaded knot tying station where adults and youth can try their hand at tying knots essential for camping and forestry. Inside the clubhouse we will have medieval games, including the Baronial Chess Championship, and a variety of Make ’N’ Take arts activities: Viking Beads & Wire Wrap Station (free!) and Rune-Stamped Metal Bracelets ($3 for materials). Lucia Traveler is sponsoring the Annual Limerick competition and will provide a handmade booklet for each participant to compose in. Come to play, make, compose, and compete at this unique site away from the heat and bustle of the Las Vegas valley!

LUNCH: Lunch is a partial potluck that is included in the site fee. The Barony will provide both meat and vegetarian chilis with optional toppings. Members of the populace are encouraged to bring beverages and cold side dishes to share. Feast gear is strongly encouraged, but some paper goods will be available.

SITE INFORMATION/RESTRICTIONS: Carpooling is encouraged as there is limited parking available. This is a primitive site in the mountains, but amenities include indoor flush toilets, a clubhouse with kitchen, and a playground. Misting fans and pop-ups will help keep us cool. This is a dry site. Las Vegas Archers prohibit sword-fighting, but arrows, axes, and throwing knives are all good!
